Guy Mintus

“An artist of prodigious talent and boundless ambition”
                              - Brian Zimmerman, DownBeat

Israeli born and New York-based, Guy Mintus is an acclaimed pianist, composer and educator. He’s been described as a "brilliant musician who melds a multicultural vision with the passion and fury of the jazz greats” (Tom Henry, Toledo Blade).

While deeply rooted in both the jazz and classical traditions, Guy is also an avid scholar of mediterranean cultures, and often travels to perform and study with masters of these various musical forms and traditions. With this knowledge and artful fusion of cultures, Guy creates a truthful, organic synthesis between the musical cultures in performances that “keep the entire hall listening with held breath” (Barka Fabianova, Full Moon Zine Magazine).

Formidably accomplished beyond his twenty-six years, Guy’s debut trio recording,  A Home In Between, was chosen by DownBeat as an “Editor's Pick” in June, 2017. His awards include the Second Prize and the Audience Choice awards at the Montreux Jazz Festival’s solo piano competition; two  ASCAP “Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Awards,” and full scholarships to both the Manhattan School of Music and the Berklee College of Music.

Guy Mintus has been commissioned to compose for numerous musical ensembles, including the  American Composers Orchestra, the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, the Imani Chamber Winds Festival, the Allumer Horn Quartet, and the Schwarz Foundation.
