Hakan Basar
Sixteen-year-old Turkish musician Hakan BaÅŸar is an exciting emerging piano star. His impeccable musical taste at such an early age has one the approval of such keyboard icons as Ahmad Jamal and Chick Corea. 

Born in 2004, BaÅŸar began playing piano at age eight. After some private lessons, he continued his studies with his father (Hakan Sr), who is a noted guitarist.

   Hakan has studied the piano curriculums of such educators as Noah Baerman, Bill Cunliffe, Andy LaVerne, Andrew D. Gordon, Walter Norris, Bill Dobbins, Jeb Patton, David Berkman, Neil Olmstead, John Valerio and Clare Fisher.

    At ten, Hakan gave his first concert, at the 5th Pera Music Festival, with transcriptions and repertoire of Michel Petrucciani, Oscar Peterson, Keith Jarrett, Kenny Barron, Hank Jones,Bill Evans,Tommy Flanagan, Sonny Clark, Art Tatum, Scott Joplin, Chick Corea and Thelonious Monk.

    He has also taken the stage at events like Cercle d'Orient, Caddebostan Cultural Center, Istanbul Hilton, BBVA (Esma Sultan), Akbank Syndicated Loan Signing Ceremony (Raffles Hotel), AkçanSA (Sabancı Center) with projects such as "A Tribute Michel Petrucciani" and "A Tribute Oscar Peterson & Keith Jarrett."

    BaÅŸar continues his musical studies full steam in addition to his active student life. His first recordings were recorded at Ä°TÜ MÄ°AM Studios in late 2015. Hakan was a finalist at the Ä°stanbul Jazz Festival Young Jazz competition, where he gave an acclaimed concert at age twelve.

Hakan's first important overseas concert took place on 15th November 2019, at London's Pizza Express in Soho, within the auspices of the EFG London Jazz Festival. Hakan's concert received wide press coverage in UK, culminating in an interview with Mike Collins from the prestigious London Jazz News.

Jazz FM, which has a substantial international audience, subsequently broadcast tracks from Hakan's newest album for many weeks.
